Last week Thursday was a rather exciting one for my kids. I have been struggling with feelings of guilt around the issue of always entertaining my kids so we have tried to cut back in the last while. We still do fun stuff together but we are trying to tone it down and say “no” every once in a while.

But last week there was just no saying NO! Not when we were invited to Snow World at Grand West to try out their ice slides. Noah was so excited we could bring his best friend Willow along and it’s pretty much all they spoke about for a good 24 hours before. We picked up his date to all go together and she was  waiting at her gate, unable to contain her excitement. Seriously guys you have never seen a cuter pair.

Grand West is a great place to be in the winter for kids with so much fun and entertainment all in one place. Ice skating, arcade games, bowling, movies and now also offering the best of snow experiences with the opening of Snow World.

Snow World

Snow World on its own has so much to offer a family with young kids. Ice slides for all ages, including a  high downward spiral slide measuring at 40 meters. I can tell you from experience that it’s great fun. I can also tell you with immense pride that my pregnant friend (Willow’s mom) went on it too! It was quite a sight-seeing my gorgeous pretty mama friend exit at the bottom. I guess it really does say a lot about being young at heart!

The kids (including the bigger kids siblings who are 3) all had such a jol on the slides, Willow proving to be the biggest little dare-devil of them all. She could not get enough!

We made our way onto the beautifully decorated  Alpine Village – a  winter wonderland  where they had little benches, snow-capped trees, fairy lights and pretty bars set up all around. The kids all got to tuck into a delicious boerie roll (The moms might or might not have helped them finish them) and we all sat on the “snow-covered” ground like little olden day swiss folk. It was such a magical experience for them.

For the over 18’s, cool down in the ICE BAR and lounge for a drink within a truly arctic experience!

What added to their excitement was being able to meet a life-size wooly mammoth  and we got to wonder through an exhibition of some of the more famous animals from the ice age. These animals, set in simulations of their ice age environment are brought back to animatronic life with movement and sounds! It was awesome.
