I stumbled across Ashanti one winter’s day when I walked past their beautiful shop on Kloof street. I didn’t stay long in the shop because we were late to meet friends, but I longed to go back for months afterwards and spend longer browsing their awesome products. And then when I was jotting down ideas for a bathroom makeover collab, their beautiful baskets sprung to mind and I wondered whether they would be keen to jump on board. And I’m so happy they did! It once again has proven how fun and exciting collabs like this can be and they have been a pleasure to work with.

WHO ARE ASHANTI?

Driven by a deep passion for Africa, its people and its ways, Ashanti is a contemporary celebration of traditional craft.

From how we source our materials, to the way our products are made and who makes them, our business proudly represents the resourcefulness, vibrance and outlook of this colourful continent.

Our signature Ashanti fabric is hand-woven from the fibres of perfectly good fabric that would otherwise be sent to landfill.

We work with incredible craftsmen living out in rural villages. The tools and techniques they use have been passed down through many generations. It’s a truly amazing way of life that humbles and inspires us.

Their gorgeous selection of trays were used for storage for towels and bathroom products for our Bathroom Makeover, but could really be used for just about anything around the house. And their Linea basket and Zobso basket with Fringe were used for plants which I think suited the space just perfectly.

They have an incredible selection of other products too which include lampshades and bean bags, all in the most gorgeous bright, vibrant colours.  Check out this video to see more about their story and ethos:

Don’t forget to enter our competition where you could *WIN* a tray and a basket from Ashanti together with other bathroom products valued at R8.500!

GOOD LUCK!! ♥
