I’m a hotel girl through and through. I mean, I can glamp and have even been known to rough it from time to time, but give me a choice and I’m a 5-star luxury girl all the way. I’m happy to say that my husband knew this about me before he chose to marry me and it would seem he has been more than ok with it because today we celebrate 9 years of marriage! He has put up with my demanding and luxurious lifestyle for 9 good ones –  See girls honestly goes a long way.

It’s no surprise then that we have stayed in some really amazing hotels and guest establishments over the years and explored some of the best of what Cape Town has to offer us on a local scale. Some places have been worth all the hype and other’s have left us rather disappointed. Keeping that in mind I can say that I was utterly blown away when I walked in the gorgeous Bliss Boutique Hotel last weekend where I got to experience this magical place with my Mum-in-law. Not only were we given the warmest welcome, but treated like queens from beginning to end. Because, Mother’s Day!

This is the best description of this little slice of heaven!

The calm location of Bliss Boutique Hotel’s natural Fynbos reserve and vast stretch of sandy white beach, means expansive sea views from a different perspective. The Atlantic Seaboard may be popular, but busy hotels mean guests jostle for space . and peace – along this crowded strip. Sunset Beach however, looks onto Table Bay . as well as the beautiful Atlantic Ocean . but is far more tranquil. However it’s still adventure-packed; world-renowned for kite surfing and wind surfing, both activities are literally on Bliss Boutique Hotel’s doorstep. It also boasts views of significant South African landmarks; the glorious Table Mountain and on a clear day, you’ll see Robben Island across the bay. For nature-lovers, the Rietvlei Wetland surrounding Sunset Beach is rich with bird life and best enjoyed from a comfortable deck chair on the property’s rooftop

Seriously, the views from this place go on for miles! As soon as we arrived we made our way up onto the top deck for a delicious little mimosa in the winter sun. I swear I could have sat there all day if it weren’t for the delicious breakfast spread that was calling my name from the floor below.

Those who know me well will know that I’m also a LUXURY breakfast girl. Scratch that, I’m a brunch girl (breakfast too early can make me feel queasy!) and I get excited about it. Flip, where do I even start? There were pastries and gourmet muffins of every kind, beautiful fruit skewers, salmon and cream cheese parcels and fruit juice on tap. Fruit juice, I might add, that you could add to bubbly to make the most refreshing mimosa of your choice.  I must have had several.

But what blew my mind into a million impressed little pieces had to be the muesli and yoghurt pots. It was all creamy home-made yoghurt with crunchy, coconuty deliciousness. (I may or may not have contemplated taking one home with me!) And this was all ended with a scrumptious Eggs Benedict, my favourite of all the egg breakies, followed my a manicure. Spoilt is an understatement.

It was clear that food and drinks are not taken lightly at Bliss if breakfast was anything to go by.

Dining is a food lover’s delight at Bliss Boutique Hotel, and the contemporary styled bar and restaurant boasts a carefully crafted and locally inspired menu cooked by in-house Chef, Dean Correira and an excellent cocktail and wine list. The space allows visitors to take full advantage of the property’s prime positioning too . an expansive view of Cape Town’s natural beauty from a different and unspoiled perspective.

Their interior is minimal yet warm with a certain modern edge about it which is kind of all softened by the romantic fynbos and ocean view. It’s such a perfect balance of warm and inviting while maintaining an elegance that you would expect from a boutique hotel of this caliber.

All eight of the luxurious rooms are stocked with delicious and thoughtfully prepared mini bar snacks. Each room has a 40 inch HDTV, DSTV decoder with full bouquet of channels, separate speaker system, Nespresso Machine, electronic safe, telephone, individual air-conditioning, full internet access and there’s room service on demand. Outside, guests can enjoy the relaxing and secluded pool area, with a swimming and splash pool, surrounded by a wooden deck. And because the views are so spectacular,  sipping sundowners from a relaxing hammock is just obligatory right?

How’s this bath? Bathroom are all immaculately designed with incredible attention to detail.

The only thing I kept thinking the whole time I was there (besides “I never want this to end!”) was, “I just have to bring my hubby back!” In fact, I hope to God above he’s reading this right now ( you know, racking his brains how to spoil be for our anniversary!) and booking us in for weekend in the not-so-distant future. A luxury girl can only dream right?
