Falling pregnant easily and naturally has never been something that I’ve taken for granted. If anything I’ve always been incredibly grateful and aware of how blessed I am to have fallen pregnant so quickly with all three of my babies. Falling pregnant this time took all of two weeks – It upsets me to no end that sadly this is not the case for everyone. Personally I think a large portion of it boils down to an hereditary component and those genes being passed down though generations – There have been no woman on my mom’s side of the family to ever struggled falling pregnant or carrying a child full term. None that were documented anyway and for the most part our bodies seem to do what they are naturally ‘expected’ to do. I can only imagine the frustration then, for women who try everything to start a family they so desperately desire, and still nothing happens. It must be an extremely painful journey for women to find themselves on.
Let’s look at some facts before we look at some SOLUTIONS, the main one being Prelox, a fertility supplement you can order through Lamelle.
Research shows 30 – 50% of the time Infertility is caused by him
It takes two to start a family. Two people, sex at least two to three times a week and in some cases there will be several “take twos” before successfully conceiving. While starting a family is one of the most profound and life-changing journeys any couple can embark upon, research shows that fertility rates worldwide are falling dramatically and half of all couples experience fertility issues at some point on this journey.
What may be surprising to know, while infertility is often considered “the woman’s problem”, science now says this is far from the truth. The fact is that 30 – 50% of the time it’s caused by male issues. More than that, the richer a population becomes, the more infertile it becomes. And the condition doesn’t discriminate – infertility is not exclusive and affects all races and a broad spectrum of ages.
I think of how life has changes so drastically over the years too, with everyone, especially men living such a fast-paced lifestyle with so many external influences playing their part. It’s frightening to think that this kind of stress can have such a direct impact on fertility and hinder so many couples dreams of starting their own family.
While everyone is different and the time it takes to fall pregnant varies from couple to couple – if after a year of unprotected regular sex you have not conceived, it’s time to run some tests. It’s a sensitive topic and not easily broached – particularly if your partner feels his manhood is being challenged. But talking about it supportively is the first step to finding a plan that works for you as a couple. And because men are less likely to openly seek infertility support, despite the fact that they are increasingly affected by it, the conversation may have to be initiated by you!
Educating yourself about male infertility is a good starting point:
– Your underwear matters: Testes need to breathe. They need to stay cool for optimal sexual health, so choose boxers over briefs and avoid hot baths and electric blankets.
– Eating well and exercising: If you eat well and get in a good amount of exercise every week, your overall health will improve. And this includes your sexual and reproductive health.
– You need to have sex more often: When a man doesn’t ejaculate often enough, there’s a buildup of old, dead sperm which are released. The optimal amount of sex for conceiving is two to three times a week. This keeps the man’s sperm in top shape and provides the best chance of pregnancy.
– Smoking is very bad for sperm: Even second hand smoked has been linked to poor sperm health.
– Alcohol in moderation: Excessive alcohol consumption is also very bad for sperm health.
– Multivitamins won’t help your sperm count: Tests show that multivitamins do nothing to improve a man’s sexual health. That’s because they’re not specially formulated to promote sperm health.
– Oxidative stress: When unstable oxygen-based compounds known as Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) or free radicals form in the body, they are devastating to your reproductive organs.
So if vitamin do nothing what can a man take to improve sperm count?
Sometimes though lifestyle changes are not enough and in this scenario a product like Prelox® from Lamelle Research Laboratories – specially formulated to enhance male fertility – should be considered. A complex of Pycnogenol (a powerful oral antioxidant) and amino acid L-Arginine boosts nitric oxide2 (which is vital for sperm health and fertility) in a man’s testes. It works specifically to counter-act oxidative stress. Research has shown that taking two Prelox capsules daily significantly improves the ejaculate volume, concentration and number of spermatozoa. Prelox may improve the health and motility of spermatozoa3.
Prelox is available from leading pharmacies nationwide or online (www.lamelle.co.za) from R583.36 for 60 capsules. For further information visit: www.2tostartafamily.co.za.
Those who have struggled with infertility, what have been the things that have worked for you? Is this something you would try?
There are a lot of fertility products like this out there, but as I have discovered throuh many years of trying to conceive(first 6yrs and now 2,5), you need to read labels carefully as often they can’t be take if you have hypertension, or other such disorders. This then has lead us to rely on miracles through prayer as our main option, specially when fertility appointments are so unbelievably expensive.
